On the 30 th of April, 25 students from three senior classes took part in a
basic first aid training workshop delivered by Ray Murphy from Dublin Fire
Brigade.
Ray, an Advanced Paramedic with Dublin Fire Brigade, provided students
with practical, engaging, and accessible training in a range of important life-
saving skills. During the workshop, students learned how to recognise an
emergency situation, call for help, place someone in the recovery position,
respond to choking and bleeding, and deal with minor burns and cuts.
The session was very interactive and gave students the opportunity to
practise skills in a supportive environment while learning from an
experienced emergency services professional. Students thoroughly enjoyed
the workshop, actively participated throughout, and gained valuable
confidence and knowledge that could help them assist others in real-life
situations.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop practical life
skills, teamwork, and confidence. The experience will also be a valuable
addition to students’ CVs as they prepare for future opportunities after
school.
We would like to sincerely thank Ray for giving his time and expertise to
support this valuable learning experience for our students.
