We are delighted to congratulate the 18 brand-new members of our Student Council, who have already got to work representing the student voice in our school! We are also enjoying the fantastic work of last year’s Student Council, proudly wearing our lovely new school PE uniforms and making great use of our new school journals. We look forward to seeing the ideas and initiatives our new Student Council will bring to school life this year. Well done to all 18 members!

We were delighted to kick off the new school year with a lovely harvest, discovering that our summer carrots and beetroots successfully weathered the very hot summer we experienced this year. Students harvested the vegetables they planted last term, seeing the full cycle of their hard work pay off and exploring the incredible health benefits of our homegrown produce, connecting outdoor learning with nutrition.

As we head back to St. Michael’s school for another year, we want to give a massive welcome back to all of our fantastic pupils, staff, and families! Congratulations to our boys and girls U13 football team for winning the Dublin schools trophy at Crumlim United on June 22nd. We had a brilliant tournament and all the players worked well as a team throughout the competition, eventually beating Scoil. Chiarain in a hard fought final to take the trophy back to St. Michael's School. Well done to all involved!

Well done to all our pupils and staff who took part in our Active Schools Week this year. We had various activities throughout the week including Yoga, Pilates, Basketball, Uni - Hoc, Indoor climbing, GAA skills, Zumba, Irish Dancing and a Hike for our senior pupils to the Dublin mountains. Congratulations to our Under 15's Football team for winning the Dublin 11 a side outdoor football tournament in Terenure on May 21st. We came up against some very strong teams and it was a great achievemnt to come back to St. Michael's School with the trophy. Well done to the whole team!

Congratulations to our Senior Boys football team on winning their Semi Final in Bluebell against a very strong St. Augustines team and progressing to the Leinster Final in Crumlin on Friday 29th May. We wish the team the very best of luck!

On the 30 th of April, 25 students from three senior classes took part in a basic first aid training workshop delivered by Ray Murphy from Dublin Fire Brigade. Ray, an Advanced Paramedic with Dublin Fire Brigade, provided students with practical, engaging, and accessible training in a range of important life- saving skills. During the workshop, students learned how to recognise an emergency situation, call for help, place someone in the recovery position, respond to choking a

Well done to our All Stars boys team who travelled down to Clonmel for the All Ireland Basketball Finals. We all had a great time and scored some brilliant baskets while playing well as a team and encouraging and supporting each other.

Some of our senior pupils took part in a GAA training day and Museum tour on Monday 13th of April. We all had a great day and it was a very special experience to play at Croke Park. A big thank you to the Sports Council of Ireland and the GAA for facilitating this special day for us.

Congratulations to 19 of our pupils who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday 13th March. Pupils involved were from St. Mark, St. John, St. Anthony, St. Therese and St. Brendan’s Classes. Congratulations to our senior boys Basketball team who were crowned All Ireland Champions for the second year in a row after beating Limerick in the final at the National Sports Campus. The teamwork and attitude of all the players was fantastic all tournament and we look forward to the girls competition next which will be held at the same venue.

St Vincent’s Class have been working hard all term on our QQ1 subjects but the highlight for us was our recent Bake Sale. We were delighted to have organised a fundraising Bake Sale for The Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day Friday March 20th Pupils, staff, bus escorts, bus drivers and families were incredibly generous and supportive and we were overwhelmed to have raised over €800 for this very worthwhile charity which affects many lives. After all the recent bad weather we are finally starting to see some signs of spring beginning to appear in our school garden. We have noticed that some of our Crocus have started to appear next to the snowdrops, and the daffodils have also emerged and have now began to bud. We look forward to seeing the lovely shades of yellow as we move into spring and hopefully some milder and brighter days ahead .

Safer Internet Day takes place on Tuesday, 10th February 2026. The celebrations will be based around the theme, “AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control” Safer Internet Day 2026 will explore ways to empower children and young people with the critical thinking and digital literacy skills they need to evaluate content, recognise bias, protect their privacy, and make responsible decisions, and be Safe, Smart and in Control. Well done to our Athletics team who represented our school at the National Indoor Arena on Thursday 29th January. Events included the 60m sprint, 200m, 400m, long jump and Shot Putt. We came home with lots of medals and happy faces, despite the tired legs! Well done to everyone who attended and thank you to Athletics Ireland for supporting the event.

Congratulations to our boys and girls All Stars teams who represented St. Michaels School at the Indoor Footbal Blitz on Friday 30th January. We had lots of fun and played some great games against the other schools. Congratulations to the girls for reaching the playoffs and the boys team for winning their competition.
